One of only four players to score in two World Cup Finals, Paul Breitner was born in Kolbermoor in 1951. A member of West Germany’s triumphant 1972 European Championship and 1974 World Cup sides, he was an attacking left-back who scored some crucial goals for his country, including one each in the 1974 and 1982 World Cup Finals. A member of Bayern Munich’s 1974 European Cup-winning side, he joined Real Madrid and played in midfield for the Spaniards, before returning to Germany with Eintracht Braunschweig in 1977, eventually rejoining Bayern Munich. A disagreement with the West German football authority caused him to miss out on the1978 World Cup finals, although he returned to play in the 1982 campaign. His self-imposed exile from the national side restricted his tally of caps to 48. #paulbreitner #realmadrid #bayernmunich #Eintrachtbraunschweig #germany #westgermany #dfb #mannschaft
