“Badlands” debuted with the launch of The Post, the UK national newspaper created by entrepreneur Eddie Shah in 1988. When The Post folded, the strip was snapped up by The Sun, the world’s largest English language newspaper, where it debuted in May, 1989. Badlands ended its run in 2001, although it has since appeared in reruns in a handful of publications throughout Australasia. The strip spawned two book collections from Pedigree Books – “The Very First Badlands Annual” (1994) and “Badlands – Ten Years of Titters” (1999) which are now out of print. A broad and bawdy strip, it revolves around the adventures of inept lawman Marshal Mask and his trusty sidekick, Pongo … and is frequently set in the Bar Belle Saloon!
